Koodal Azhaghar Vishnu Temple, Madurai

Koodal Azhagar temple is a Vishnu temple located at the heart of the temple city of Madurai, just 2-3 kms from the Meenakshi Temple.It has a 3-tiered gopuram with Lord Vishnu seen as sitting, standing and reclining positions. The Vimana is called as Ashtakshara Vimana since it organized as the form of the 8 lettered Ashtakshara Mantra. You can climb up the gopuram for a small fee and it offers a breath taking view of the madurai city.The deities in the gopuram are not well maintained but you can see hundreds of years of hisory there.
