Thandavaraya Swamigal lived 500 years ago in the areas around today’s Thanjavur. He authored the vedantic master piece in Tamil known as Kaivalya Navaneetham ( The butter of self realisation). This book has been translated in several languages across the world. The Maha samadhi of Thandavaraya Swamigal is said to be located in Illupai Thoppu in Nannilam Taluk of Thanjavur. Whether it still remains or has been consumed by the ravages of time – I’m not sure. If anyone has details of the Adhistanam, please let us know.
